The University of California, Berkeley is a public research university located in Berkeley, California, United States. The Educational Technology Services (ETS) department provides technology services essential to teaching and learning, including the CalCentral portal website, and the bCourses learning management system powered by Instructure's Canvas.

Acted as primary developer on the bSpace replacement project, implementing tools and solutions for its replacement - bCourses.

All contributions visible via public Github repository for ets-berkeley-edu/calcentral, full stack development involving Ruby on Rails 4 and AngularJS 1.3.15.

Responsibilities/Accomplishments include:
Developed LTI Tools to integrate Student Information System (SIS) data into workflows such as:
  • Official Course Site Creation and Modification
  • Campus specific Grade Exporting
  • Manual Enrollment Addition with Directory Search
  • Project Site Creation
Engineered solution for incremental updates to users and course enrollments based on differences between campus and LMS data due to lack of incremental querying in existing SIS systems.


Ruby on Rails Web Developer | February, 2012 - June 2013 (16 months)

Kabam is an interactive entertainment company that creates free-to-play games for social networks, designed to appeal to the growing number of serious gamers and game enthusiasts who are also engaged in social networks.

Internal Tool Development
Created Rails 3 application purposed with making dynamic requests to game systems for promotional purposes. Utilized test driven development approach using Rspec and Cucumber. Dynamic user targeting interface using jQuery/Coffeescript. Developed API interface for game systems as Rails 2 and Rails 3 engines, supplied via two separate Ruby gems. Aided heavily in project planning and specifications. Devised specifications for internationalized content provided by European staff, though not implemented.
Back-end Game Development
Contributed bug fixes and features to Dragons of Atlantis game system. Included refactoring of existing tool used to reward players for in-game contest participation, and tracking of troop statistic modifications applied during battles (for purpose of display in Battle Report). Provided high level overviews and guides for several sub-systems. Updated developer workstation setup guide, documented deployment procedures, and contributed many overviews of several sub-systems.
